ENTERTAINMENT is an enormously complex and flexible concept, which relates to many different forms of art. The scale of entertainment may be as small as an individual choosing a private entertainer from the now hugely available range of pre-recorded products; to a banquet adapted for two; to a party and its music for a specific number of guests; to performances intended for thousands; or even for a global audience. Although the idea of entertainment has become strongly associated with amusement, some entertainments have a serious purpose, such as ceremonies, celebrations, religious festivals or satire.
